PTA

Welcome to Burton's PTA

Burton PTA is a parent-run volunteer organization that works closely with Burton teachers and administrators to provide a wide variety of materials, activities and school improvements that impact every Burton student and family. Burton PTA also advocates for our students through the state and national PTA organizations. Burton PTA stays strong because families are willing to give their time to events and activities, both during school and outside of school hours.

What does Burton PTA do?

The PTA provides funding for major improvements to the school and grounds, as well as resources for classrooms and teachers. Past PTA investments include the new playground, baffles for the gym ceiling to help reduce noise during gym, lunch and other activities, leveled book sets all grades to aid in reading instruction, Chromebooks, and almost all the funding for school assemblies and transportation for field trips each year.

How?

The PTA has an annual budget of roughly $60,000 to fund all of these endeavors and many others as well. We collect PTA membership dues which provide some of that budget; however, the majority of our revenue comes from our fall fundraising event, the Burton Fun Run. Through the Fun Run, the PTA typically raises close to $40,000 in corporate donations and family contributions. The Burton Fun Run has become so successful, the PTA has been able to eliminate other major student fundraising. Look for your Fun Run Information Packet to come home in the beginning of the school year!
